LaTeX Resources
Setup
We will be using LaTeX this semester to typeset problem sets. Some of you may have used LaTeX before, others may be new to it. If you’re just getting started, I recommend either: using LaTeX within Quarto documents in RStudio or creating an Overleaf account to type and render documents online.
If you want to use LaTeX on your laptop (not online), you’ll need to download some combination of TinyTex and MacTeX (Apple) or MiKTeX (Windows).
Not sure if you have LaTeX on your computer? Create a new Quarto file in RStudio and select PDF as the output format. Click Render. If it works, you already have LaTeX installed! Otherwise, follow the instructions in the error message or click the links below to install.
Resources
Professor Kristin Heysse has a great resource for getting started with Overleaf. See here. If you’re new to LaTeX/Overleaf, you should review this primer. Most sections (except the one on Tikz) are relevant to our class.
